Ganana Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (GIMSAT) was incorporated on 12th October 2015. It was registered as a Technical and Vocational Training institution in accordance with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Act 2013 on 14th April 2016. The college was approved by Kenya National Examination Council as an examination centre on 16th June 2016.

The strategic intent of GIMSAT is to provide accessible, affordable and quality education which has been a challenge in Northern Kenya. There has been great expansion in both primary and secondary education over the years without a corresponding expansion of middle level colleges and universities in the region. This has led to the limited progression of students who graduate from primary and secondary schools. There is a huge training gap that has forced students to join institutions in far flung regions at high costs. This region is classified as Arid and Semi-arid hence high cost of acquiring the much needed knowledge and skills limits children from the region and community in general to improve their standard of living.

We at GIMSAT recognize this knowledge and skills gap and it is harmful to the society. It constrains the community’s social economic advancement and empowerment. In this regard, our intent is to specifically address this knowledge and skills gap in the region and thus bring the youth at par with those of other regions in terms of employability and academic pursuits.
